SINCE 1980.
The Beginning
In 1969, Erich Hartmann began his career as an optician in Vienna.
After earning his master optician's qualification in 1976, he spent several years perfecting his skills in optics and eyewear manufacturing. In 1980, he opened his own atelier in Vienna. With a strong focus on craftsmanship and attention to detail, the business soon became known for custom-made, handcrafted horn frames.
Timeline
Hartmann Wien was founded out of a passion for precision and handcrafted design. Known for its natural horn frames, the atelier combines traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation.
1980
When it all began...
On February 1, 1980, Erich Hartmann opened his own optical shop in Vienna, focusing on craftsmanship and precision.
Even then, he placed great importance on aesthetics and quality.
1989
First expansion
When Mr. Hartmann was offered the adjacent premises, he seized the opportunity to expand his optical shop from 37 m² to 74 m².
1996
A dedicated refraction room
In 1996, Mr. Hartmann was able to rent an apartment above the shop, creating space for a refraction room. This allowed eye measurements to be taken in a relaxed atmosphere.
2017
The latest renovation
In 2017, the business was modernized and expanded. Opening up the ground floor to the upper floor created a new shopping experience.
All equipment was renewed and brought up to the latest technological standards.
Veronika Hartmann joined the family business after passing her master optician's examination and has run it ever since.
